Opened in 1983, Briarwood was built during a different time. No internet, no phones, no distractions. Except for the club, there was nowhere to go for miles around. So people came to stay awhile—play golf, linger over drinks, dress up for big nights, and take calls on a rotary phone. Briarwood wasn’t just the center of the community, it was the community. 

That world doesn’t exist anymore. And honestly, that’s a good thing.

Today, Briarwood is for people who want to play a superb golf course in three hours or so, hang out for a bit, then go do something else. Or not. Here, there’s good food, strong drinks, and a place to spend time with friends. And the only full liquor license in Sun City West. Which doesn’t hurt.

In 2024, Swing First Golf took over Briarwood. Two friends who believe a club should feel like the place you actually want to be, in a world where you can be anywhere. So we’re changing things.

We’ve added pickle ball, fitness classes, a creative studio, and a coffee shop (opening April 2026). The practice facility is world-class. The pool isn’t crowded. You can play golf, cards or mahjong every day. 

So stay for an hour. Or half a day. Or all day. Because the world isn’t what it used to be and neither is Briarwood.
